“A tough ask”- Conor McGregor provides his take on the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk
Conor McGregor on Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk
Conor McGregor has given his views on the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk. Anthony and Oleksander fought each other for the heavyweight title in September last year, and Oleksander outboxed Anthony to win the Heavyweight title. Prior to the fight, Anthony was the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion, and Oleksander was the WBO’s heavyweight mandatory challenger.
Oleksander won the fight and is now the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion. Both fighters are now looking for a rematch and might fight each other in the summer of 2022, as both fighters are in talks about a rematch in Saudi Arabia.
McGregor has shared his views on the rematch as the MMA star was spotted during the F1 Monaco GP, along with his team. McGregor talked about the rematch with SKY sports and said that it is hard to choose a winner as both fighters are good. Conor revealed he would love to see Anthony perform well in the rematch. Conor said: “It didn’t go so well the last time. It’s a tough ask. AJ is a good guy and I wish him well. Usyk is a great guy as well and I hope for a good bout for both men. The heavyweight division is on fire at the minute. Good things are happening.”
“Story is far from over,”- Conor McGregor talked about his return to the octagon
Conor McGregor has not competed in the octagon since his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Conor suffered a bizarre leg injury during the fight, which resulted in ending the match in Dustin’s favor. McGregor had leg surgery since then and is recovering to return to the octagon.
Conor teased his return in his Instagram posts and has talked about potential opponents on Twitter. In his recent interview, Conor talked about his return to the octagon and said that he will return soon as the story was far from over. Conor also said he will box again in the future.
Conor said: “Boxing is my first love in combat sports. I had such a great time the last time I was out there. Obviously, my return will be in the octagon for UFC – that story is far from over. In fact, it’s just being written. It is just the beginning. But, boxing. For sure, I will grace the squared circle again in the future.”
It has been almost over a year since Conor stepped into the octagon. As the UFC star prepares to return to the octagon, it will be exciting to see who will be his next opponent. Conor has called out many opponents like welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, number one lightweight contender Charles Oliveira, and lightweight fighter Michael Chandler. However, no fight has been yet confirmed for the “notorious”.
