David Benavidez is to face off against Demetrius Andrade this Saturday night, Nov. 25th, on Showtime PPV. Undefeated two-time super middleweight world champion Benavidez will defend his interim WBC super middleweight title against unbeaten two-division world champion Andrade in the headliner. Already reveling in the pomp and glory of the battle, Benavidez is, however, focusing on Canelo Alvarez.

Standing at 27-0-0, and 23 KOs,  “El Monstruo” is of the opinion he cannot lose to Andrade. Following this, he wants to force out Canelo Alvarez. Set at 32-0, 19 KOs, the opponent has a much better chance and in-ring combative IQ. But Benavidez wants to force the hand of Alvarez by defeating the rest of their peers. At the pre-fight presser, speaking to FightHype.com, Benavidez said:

I’m not going to go nowhere, I’m going to continue to beat all the fighters in front of me, and that fight is definitely going to be made. I feel like they know what’s going to happen with two quality Mexican fighters in the ring. You get the best of the best, and you definitely get a war. I think people in boxing want to see the best fight the best in every weight division.

Speaking further he weighed in on the opponent. He said that as a fighter, Andrade has a different kind of energy. But Benavidez reaffirmed confidently that the end result would still be the same at the matchup. He proclaimed himself to be the “best” within the super middleweight division; and as such the only worthy challenge for a mega fight with Alvarez.

Benavidez said that a matchup with Alvarez is a very lucrative commitment as it pits two of the best against each other. The super middleweight showdown will take place on Nov. 25th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo Alvarez reignites beef with Conor McGregor, swapping insults

Boxer Canelo Alvarez and Conor McGregor are both monumental names in their trade. McGregor is the former two-division champion and a worldwide famed martial artist. In the near past, he fought in a crossover boxing bout with 50-0 legend Floyd Mayweather. The undisputed super middleweight boxing champion, Alvarez, has also faced Mayweather as an opponent.

The “Notorious” has long flirted with the idea of an in-ring return to boxing crossovers, and Alvarez had been a primed-up target. The duo have squabbled in the past as well. Recently, McGregor tweeted about his matchup of 2017. He had wishfully expressed that he fought better against the International Boxing Hall of Famer, than Álvarez did. It did not take the Mexican long to retort back. He said:

I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches.

This then started a thread of further callouts and swap-backs. McGregor is to return to UFC in 2024. He had been sidelined due to a fractured tibia and fibula and had to undergo subsequent surgeries. Correspondingly, he also had a titanium insertion. The Irishman is now fully recovered though, and is eyeing the historic UFC 300 card for his return.
