Deontay Wilder has been synonymous with ferocious knockout power. However, the heavyweight failed to display that in his fight with Joseph Parker. In their recent bout, Wilder seemed to have been a shadow of his former self. Wilder was reluctant to throw a flurry of punches and was waiting for one opportunity for a knockout that Parker denied him. This loss of the former world champ seemed to make multiple fans question his ability and passion for the sport of boxing.

Former world champion Paulie Malignaggi also questioned the true intentions of Wilder. According to Malignaggi, Wilder didn’t have the fire in him to beat Parker.

He sounded happy and satisfied after the defeat, he didn’t even sound dejected or that it bothered him. This kind of thing happens. You get a little older and you have other things going on in your life and you’re just not as competitive anymore.
