Dmitry Bivol is a 33-year-old professional boxer from Russia and has a mixed ethnicity of Russian and Korean blood. Bivol has been interested in boxing since the age of 6 and has been training rigorously since he was 12.

Throughout his life, Bivol and his family faced several hardships, but Bivol continued to focus and train because of his love for boxing. Furthermore, the 33-year-old won a gold medal in the 2013 World Combat Games in the 81 kg division. Bivol made his professional debut in 2017 and has a record of 21 wins, 11 KOS, and 0 losses. Subsequently, Bivol has also held the WBC light heavyweight title since 2017, which he has successfully defended nine times. His fight with Canelo Alvarez was his most impressive performance since he won the fight via unanimous decision.

Hence, Bivol’s victory was impressive because Alvarez is considered to be the current face of boxing and has only lost to Floyd Mayweather prior to their match. Furthermore, Bivol has recently come under the negative spotlight after his wife accused him of domestic violence. In August 2023, Bivol’s wife, Ekaterina Bivol, filed for divorce after 16 years of marriage.

Bivol has consistently maintained a low profile regarding his personal lies and has refrained from engaging in excessive media coverage. Hence, Bivol has not made any statements about his divorce, but his wife has come forward with several claims and accusations.

Ekaterina has been very vocal about the end of their relationship in terms of announcing her divorce after 16 years. Furthermore, Ekaterina has accused Dmitry of domestic violence and posted several photos on social media to support her claims. Ekaterina stated that no specific instance of domestic violence triggered the divorce, and she had not seen Bivol for the last 10 months. However, she admitted that she has been a silent victim of domestic violence and wants to not hide it anymore. Ekaterina accused Bivol and his mom of physical and mental abuse and posted pictures of the abuse.

Ekaterina revealed that her own father initially did not believe her because Bivol told him that she hurt herself. Subsequently, later on, Ekaterina’s father stopped her from going to the police and reporting the abuse. Fans have reacted to this controversial news with mixed reactions. Many fans trolled Bivol, stating that he was trying to be like Mayweather because of the domestic violence accusations. Some fans felt that the wife was lying for attention, but others felt that Bivol might have a dark side.
