“Last thing boxing needs” – Fans brutally destroy WBC for creating another title for upcoming Canelo Alvarez bout

Boxing Superstar Canelo Alvarez will take on John Ryder in the first week of May. He has not fought since his trilogy fight over Gennady Golovkin last year. Alvarez won the bout by decision. He bounced back from his loss to Dimitry Bivol with a win over GGG.

Before the boxing bout with Ryder, WBC decided to add another belt on the line. They announced that a special Puebla-Jalisco title would be on the line when Canelo Alvarez takes on Ryder. It is not the first time the WBC added a new belt to compete for. Previously for the blockbuster clash between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, they created the “Money Belt.”

Canelo had surgery and needed to heal before accepting a new fight. He said, “Very well. That motivates me a lot, I am available to train at 100%, to hit with my left hand” about rehabbing from the injury. He continued, “The left hand normally, out of every ten punches you throw six, you need a lot.” He revealed that he is training strongly for his upcoming bout.

Canelo has only tasted defeat twice in his career. His first career loss came against Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Canelo lost to Dimitry Bivol in 2022 by decision. John Ryder will look to be the third fighter to defeat Canelo. He is the interim WBC Super-Middleweight Champion and looks to win the undisputed title from Canelo.

WBC decided to create a Puebla-Jalisco title for the upcoming bout between Canelo Alvarez and John Ryder. However, boxing fans did not appreciate the creation of a new belt. They took to Twitter to troll WBC and the sport of boxing. Check out some of the fan reactions:

Boxing fans believe that there are too many belts in boxing. They must wait until next weekend to see who wins the newly created title.
