Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez is one of the most popular fighters in modern-day boxing. His career highlights outweigh his controversies inside and outside the ring. However, that failed to be the case this time, as ‘Saul’ is being called out for ‘ducking’ David Benavidez.
David Benavidez, in the boxing community, has earned quite a reputation. His fast hands and vicious shots in the ring have been the reason for a spot for himself in the title. Following his unanimous decision victory over Caleb Plant, fans were hoping for a title shot against Canelo Alvarez. However, the Mexican boxer seemed to have different plans for his next opponent.
Popular boxing Twitter personality ‘Michael Benson‘ revealed Canelo Alvarez’s next fight against Jermall Charlo had reportedly come to fruition. He tweeted, “Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo is reportedly now expected to happen next as a defense of Canelo’s undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO super-middleweight world titles.” This caused an army of fans to attack Canelo Alvarez for supposedly avoiding a fight against David Benavidez, who viciously defeated Caleb Plant.
As good of a fighter as Jermall Charlo is, his inactiveness had made fans uninterested. Although his previous fight ended in a victory, the fighter had not stepped in the ring for over two years. Fans want the Mexican boxer to take on an active David Benavidez in a more exciting match-up.

Twitter had raged at Canelo Alvarez for supposedly avoiding the fight against David Benavidez. After news of taking on Jermall Charlo, fans had enough of the matter. One fan tweeted, “Wants no part of Bivol and Benavidez ?” Judging by the replies on Twitter, fans are uninterested in witnessing a fight against Charlo, who is extremely inactive and had not fought for over two years.
In an unexpected turn of events, Canelo Alvarez seems to be caught up in a lot of ‘ducking’ allegations. Recently, former opponent Dmitry Bivol accused the Mexican fighter of not wanting to accept the rematch. Fans also call out ‘Saul’ for his lack of interest in taking fights that the boxing audience is excited to witness.
