Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya‘s relationship is as bizarre as it gets when it comes to the boxing world. Things were good between the two men before Garcia’s defeat against Gervonta Davis in April of this year. However, things took a turn for the worse after Garcia lost and De La Hoya forsook his own fighter. Furthermore, after going through a legal battle relating to their contract, their relationship has become more complicated.
Hence, Garcia is still a part of the Golden Boy promotion because of his contract, but he clearly is dissatisfied with it. This was best seen when he fired back at De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins at the pre-fight press conference. Furthermore, Garcia shocked everyone, including the boxing world, by standing up for himself publicly. Subsequently, Garcia stated that he was rooting for his opponent to win openly with the press.
