Canelo and GGG embrace after their second outing, Canelo won the bout on the judges scorecards
Canelo Alvarez might have suffered his first loss in years earlier this month, however, the 31-year-old still has his own division to reign over and the biggest challenge to his dominance is none other than Gennady Golovkin or as he’s affectionately called, GGG. The two have duked it out for 24 rounds in their last two fights, one ending in a draw and the second in a decision victory for Canelo.
However, there is a reason that a trilogy where a fighter is up by 1 is booked and hardly any fans object to it. Their last two fights have perhaps been two of the most exciting 24 rounds seen in boxing, during the second half of the 2010’s decade. Many fans consider that Canelo was gifted the decision and GGG deserved to win at least one of those bouts and depending on who you ask maybe even both. Since their last fight in 2019 the hype has been unstoppable and this fight has all the indicators to break all records for the start of the 2020’s decade.

Most fans shared the same reaction of being overjoyed by the announcement and even claiming it had lit up their day and personal lives as well.
Others pointed out that the event was a sure-shot success because of the story and names involved itself
Some gave props to DAZN and Matchroom Boxing for providing the fans what they wanted while one rightly pointed out that the event is a true test of their promotional abilities
Canelo’s most recent loss to Dimitry Bivol also adds to the spectacle as GGG will prove to be a real test before he goes back to face the russian
Fans also have started making plans for it to be an event you take your entire family to
The biggest criticism thrown at Canelo Alvarez is long wait for the trilogy, leading to father time catching up with Golovkin, however many fans were optimistic that at 40, the Khazak could still put up a memorable performance
It would also be unfair to say that there were no negative nancies that added to the conversation, because there were, some even made sound points
One also rightly pointed out the stupidity of not making this fight happen while they still can and it was near impossible to miss out on all the money
