Floyd Mayweather back in action on 25th September faces MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura

Floyd Mayweather (L) takes on Mikuru Asakura (R) on the 25th of September
Floyd Mayweather is staying as busy as he can at 45 years old. Most prize fighters, especially at the upper echelons of the sport start taking it easy after 40. But, not Mayweather, one of the greatest boxers to ever live.
“Money” faced YouTube megastar Logan Paul last year in June – the result being a draw as the match could only be won by a KO. While Paul called it a personal win, Mayweather never looked winded against a younger, bigger, and much taller opponent than Paul. The result of the fight was a nice paycheck for the two of them to enjoy. Alas, not for Paul, as he later alleged that he had not been paid by Mayweather.
As one would say, Mayweather is seemingly living paycheck to paycheck – only that the paycheck is worth a couple hundred million dollars, supporting his insanely lavish lifestyle. Mayweather was supposed to fight Abu Dhabi-based YouTuber Money Kicks, in February, before the fight was called off.
Floyd Mayweather has had some extremely high-key fights in his career. If one were to wish to see the big highlights of his career, all they would need to do is to take a glance at the list of the all-time highest-selling PPVs in boxing, which contains more than enough mentions of him. The two biggest ones are his fight against Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor. He won both fights, and his professional record stands at 50-0.
Floyd Mayweather returns to RIZIN to face the second Japanese fighter of his career

In a fight that was announced just this week, Mayweather will partake in a boxing exhibition against Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura on the 25th of September under the banner of RIZIN, Japan’s premier Martial Arts promotion. Although the event will be held along the lines of a traditional MMA card (with some kickboxing bouts), the night will be headlined by the American taking on the Japanese, in a boxing match.
This isn’t Floyd Mayweather’s first time-fighting in RIZIN. In 2018, fresh off the heels of a commercially successful win over Conor McGregor, Mayweather took on Tenshin Nasukawa, again inside the ring. That bout was far from competitive, with the American shedding hardly a sweat to completely dismantle the lost Nasukawa. To be fair, the Japanese fighter is primarily a kickboxer who dared to step into a boxing-only match against an all-time great. However, Nasukawa isn’t to be dismissed as some amateur looking for a quick payday either – he is widely hailed as one of the best kickboxers in history. Add to that, he is just 24.
The quick dismantling of Nasukawa shows just how well McGregor fared in their bout, surviving as long as he did that night. McGregor had never faced anyone in a professional boxing match, and he managed to stay on his feet for 10 rounds, making the bout as competitive as he could have.
His newest opponent doesn’t have the laurels that Nasukawa had – Asakura is 16-3. Will Asakura be able to hold his own against a great of boxing, which is traditionally not the sport he plies his trade-in? Or, maybe, could Floyd’s age finally show against a youthful fighter? Whatever the outcome, the fight will surely be a must-watch!
