Floyd Mayweather is considered one of the best boxers of all time to emerge in recent times. Furthermore, his record of 50-0 speaks for itself, and he often calls himself ‘TBE’ or ‘The Best Ever’. Subsequently, Mayweather has a history of being controversial and has often said he is the greatest boxer of all time. Mayweather respects boxing legends like Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, and many other great boxers. However, he has always claimed that he is better than everyone else.
This is ideologically looked down upon because even boxing legends like Mike Tyson consider Ali to be greater than himself. However, Mayweather firmly believes that he is the greatest boxer to emerge from the sport of boxing. Furthermore, it can be argued that his mindset is what led him to achieve greatness. Mayweather tends to get on boxing fans’ nerves whenever he proclaims that he is the best boxer to ever exist. Furthermore, this is because he dismantles the skills and accomplishments of any other boxer who isn’t him. Subsequently, Mayweather does this because he believes his career and his achievements are the best out of everyone.
In addition, Mayweather believes that he is a genius because of his defensive skills and boxing IQ. Hence, Mayweather continues to proclaim that he is the greatest boxer to emerge from the sport of boxing. Fans reacted to this by stating, “There is no such thing as an “inactive” face of boxing.”
Fans trolled Mayweather for claiming to be the face of boxing even after retraining and called him the face of exhibition fights. Furthermore, fans stated that Mayweather was an impressive boxer, but his career does not overshadow boxing legends.
