Floyd Mayweather shares his bodyweight training regimen, which got him through the time he went to prison. Back in September 2010, Floyd Mayweather was sentenced to jail for a domestic violence case involving his ex-girlfriend, Josie Harris. After more than a year of legal battles, he ended up with a 90-day jail term.
At the time, Mayweather was at the peak of his boxing career, and he wasn’t going to let his time in jail mess that up. Instead of moping around, he used his prison time to get in shape using only his body weight. He started with 400 push-ups a day and eventually worked his way up to an incredible 1,300 push-ups daily.
He said, “I started doing 436 push-ups a day, then I went from 436 to 870, then I went to 1308. So I was doing thirteen hundred push-ups a day. What the most I have done was probably when I got out and done141 (in one attempt) but I just regular it’s 100.”
During his stint in jail, Mayweather spent 23 hours a day in his cell, so he didn’t have much else to do. He put all his energy into doing push-ups and getting better at them. Mayweather is famous for his discipline, which has kept him in great shape over the years. So, it’s not surprising that he put in the work even behind bars, adding to his reputation for dedication and hard work.
