Floyd Mayweather inducted into IBHOF

Floyd Mayweather will be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday. The International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) honors boxers, coaches and other sports contributors for their contribution to the sport of boxing. IBHOF was started in 1990 to honor boxers and it is one of the two recognized Boxing Halls of Fame in the world. Many great boxers, such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Sonny Liston, have been honored by the IBHOF.

The ceremony for IBHOF takes place every year to induct the greats of the sport. The ceremony takes place over the weekend, and it is one of the most important weekends in the boxing calendar. IBHOF ceremony is not only attended by boxers, but Hollywood celebrities and former boxing champions attend the event. However, the ceremony was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.

The ceremony will finally take place on the second weekend of June after two years and 3 classes will be inducted together this year. After cancellation of the last two ceremonies, a total of 36 honorees, including 27 boxers, will be inducted in the IBHOF this year. The list includes fighters like Floyd Mayweather, Wladimir Klitschko, Roy Jones Jr to be inducted on Sunday. The event is generally held at Canastota but will be held near a casino because so many fighters.

Manny Pacquiao is ready to lace up his boxing gloves again to fight Floyd Mayweather. Manny and Floyd fought each other in 2015, and the fight was billed as the Fight of the Century. The fight was the biggest selling boxing fight of all time, and both fighters earned a truckload of money. The fight ended in the favor of Floyd and he won the fight via a unanimous decision.

Pacquiao is boxing’s only 8 division champ, and he retired from boxing after his fight against Yordenis Ugas in 2021. Floyd has also retired from boxing after his last fight against MMA star Conor McGregor. Floyd has an undefeated record of 50-0 and despite retiring from professional boxing, he has been fighting in exhibition matches.

Manny has his own fighting promotion: MP promotion and its president, Sean Gibbons, revealed Manny would like to fight Floyd in a rematch. However, Sean also said he is sure Floyd won’t accept the fight because he doesn’t want to fight Pacquiao. Gibbons, in his recent interview with PlanetSport said: “Senator Pacquiao would love an exhibition. If he was to return, it would be this year – but that is a big if.Let’s go… I would love to see it, but Mayweather wants none of this smoke due to his ego.”
