Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou clashed at the battle of the baddest bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight was expected to be an easy one for Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion with an undefeated record. However, surprisingly, Ngannou was able to deliver a stellar performance in his professional boxing debut against the champion.
In addition, Ngannou has frequently been matched up against Deontay Wilder, who is known as the hardest-punching boxer. Ngannou also spoke about this matchup in an interview with The MMA Hour, and Ngannou stated:
So that's something that can potentially happen. Deontay Wilder for a couple of months, I mean for a while now, has been training MMA.
Hence, Ngannou concluded that a potential bout between him and Wilder could occur inside the octagon. Furthermore, Ngannou said that Wilder has been taking his MMA training quite seriously recently. Subsequently, Ngannou mentioned how people assume MMA fighters cannot perform well in boxing and vice versa.
However, Ngannou’s performance against Fury proves his myth wrong, and he believes Wilder could thrive in MMA. In addition, Ngannou mentioned how Wilder will have to overcome a different kind of mountain the way Ngannou did with his professional boxing debut.

Wilder’s trilogy fight against Fury was one of the most defining moments of his career and was a spectacle for the division. Their first fight ended with a controversial draw, and in their next consecutive bouts, Fury won via TKO and KO.
Subsequently, Wilder took a year off from boxing after the conclusion of his rivalry with Fury. In addition, he made a comeback to the ring in 2022 when he fought Robert Helenius, and Wilder won via a first-round KO. Furthermore, UFC CEO Dana White revealed that Wilder had trained at the UFC Performance Institute before his boxing comeback.
In addition, White acknowledged Wilder as a fighter and as a champion and expressed his respect for him. Subsequently, Wilder’s comeback can be attributed to his training at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas.
