The former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will be fighting the current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on October 28. Ngannou will make his professional boxing debut after signing with the PFL because he wasn’t satisfied with his UFC contract. The promotion for the bout has seen some creative marketing. As such, one couldn’t rule out what happened recently as a mere accident.
Recently, Ngannou gave a chilling example of his power when he accidentally destroyed a shop’s door. Francis Ngannou, who is 6 feet and 4 inches tall, walked up to the shop in Nevada City and tried to open the door. The story went viral after a Reddit user shared the security camera footage of his father’s shop with the caption, “This happened at my dad’s shop in Vegas. Francis thought it was a push door instead of a pull, lol. The door is really old anyway and had a few cracks so not too surprising but still crazy tho.” (H/T- Twitter)
Ngannou continued his attempt at opening the door after not succeeding the first time. However, he did not realize the mechanism of the door was different. Hence, after applying too much force, the glass door easily shattered. The 37-year-old is currently training in Las Vegas ahead of his high-stakes cross-fight competition against Fury.
In the UFC, ‘The Predator’ was well-known for his knockout power and his well-developed and muscular body. Subsequently, the UFC’s CEO, Dana White, once proclaimed that Ngannou hits as hard as a Ford Escort going at max speed, or the equivalent of 96 horsepower.
Fans react to Francis Ngannou breaking the glass door
Recently, the release of an epic promo for the Fury vs. Ngannou fight showcased their training, which was observed to affect their surrounding environment. The main premise of the promo was to depict the strength of the heavyweights, breaking things in their surroundings and causing earthquakes as they trained. The theme of the promo has transcended into reality after Ngannou casually broke a glass door at a convenience store.
After Ngannou broke the glass door, the shopkeeper angrily approached him and showed visible frustration. However, Ngannou remained calm and polite, and soon the shopkeeper also calmed down, as they proceeded to inspect the damage. All the glass from the door was visibly missing, which meant that Ngannou broke it all with one slight push.
Furthermore, the viral clip has garnered several mixed reactions from fans. Some fans were impressed and also not shocked by Ngannou’s display of power because he is well known for it. Subsequently, some fans ridiculed Ngannou for not knowing how a door opens since he kept pushing it open. Furthermore, some fans believed that the incident was staged and that it was a marketing gimmick to promote the fight.
