Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou departed the UFC last year. He has not fought since his victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 last year. He has yet to confirm where he is fighting next, whether Boxing or MMA. But a recent ESPN interview with Brett Okamoto has revealed what Ngannou plans to do.
Ngannou said, “My next step has to be Boxing. I want to do one boxing match first, and then maybe go back to MMA because I still enjoy MMA. The most that we have spoken with is Deontay Wilder’s team. We’ve been having some exchanges, basically coming to some sort of verbal agreement. We want two fights. Maybe one of those fights in Africa, maybe two of those fights in Africa. Which would be massive, which would be great.”
Francis Ngannou looks keen on taking on a new challenge presented by Boxing. In the past, Tyson Fury has expressed interest in potentially boxing Ngannou in a Blockbuster event. But that would have to wait as Fury will look to defeat Oleksandr Usyk to unify their belts in April.
A matchup between Ngannou and Deontay Wilder is also not a bad idea. Both of them are known for their knockout power, and it will be a spectacle for the ages if the fight can happen in Africa. The fight fans will be getting updates on Ngannou’s future soon.
Francis Ngannou kept “smiling” after Jon Jones submitted Ciryl Gane at UFC 285

Francis Ngannou watched live as Jon Jones submitted Ciryl Gane in the first round at UFC 285. It is to be noted that Ngannou needed all 25 minutes to defeat Gane when they fought at UFC 270. Once Jones locked in the submission and Gane tapped, Ngannou kept smiling.

Ngannou left the UFC after disagreeing on a new contract. He was offered the highest-paid contract ever for a Heavyweight, but Ngannou turned it down, citing a disagreement in the terms. After his departure, UFC announced Jones would return to fight Gane at UFC 285 for the vacant Heavyweight Championship.
Ngannou is testing the free agent market to find the best fight offers. He has expressed interest in boxing and wishes to fight Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. The incredible knockout power of Francis Ngannou can create spectacles in a boxing ring. Only time will tell what Ngannou will do next.
