The way the fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou ended caught the combat sports world off guard. People did expect the fight to end with a knockout since the fight was called ‘knockout chaos’. Furthermore, both fighters are known for their punching power. However, the fight ended swiftly in the second round after Joshua knocked out Ngannou. This was surprising since several people were expecting Ngannou to be a formidable opponent after his performance against Tyson Fury

Unfortunately, The Predator ended up being knocked down in the first round itself. Ngannou was able to make a swift recovery and managed to survive the round. However, he was knocked down again in the second round and got back up just to be knocked out cold. The ending was so swift that it even surprised Ngannou, who appeared disoriented after the fight. Now, a few weeks after the fight, he spoke about his loss and stated:

Ngannou’s second fight and his debut were significantly different, even though he lost both of them. As such, his performance during his professional boxing debut against the undefeated WBC heavyweight was impressive for a novice boxer.

The Predator believes there were two different versions of himself in the two fights. While this sounds like an excuse for losing, Ngannou went on to make several other strange claims about the fight against Anthony Joshua

Francis Ngannou does not remember the second round starting

Ngannou stated that he felt strange and weird on the fight day, even before the fight. The predator mentioned feeling tired and sleepy while staying in the locker room. Furthermore, the Cameroonian has now claimed that he does not remember when he went back to the ring for the second round.

This was after Ngannou suffered the first knockdown of the fight during the first round. However, the Cameroonian did not imply that he felt that way because of the damage he suffered.

Initially, Ngannou had mentioned after the fight that he wouldn’t make any excuses for his loss. But he ended up contradicting himself in his interview with Helwani. Despite that, the former UFC heavyweight champion has vowed to come back to the ring to regain his lost respect and dignity.
