Recently Francis Ngannou’s manager Marquel Martin broke the news that Ngannou’s paycheck from the Tyson Fury fight was enough to retire early. But still, a few believed that he had fumbled the bag. As such, his manager cleared the air around the matter.

Marquel Martin on the MMA Hour revealed that Francis Ngannou had more money than he could’ve in the UFC. Although he didn’t mention the exact figures; it was a significant amount. Further, he stated that he knew all the PPV numbers. Coming from the manager himself, this cannot be wrong. Here is what he said:

I know what the Pay-per-view numbers look like. I know what he could've gotten paid. Still, you add up all of that, whatever you wanna say, no! Francis did not fumble the bag. He's gotten just in that one fight more than everything he could've made combined...He's already at a point where he can retire and be happy.

Francis Ngannou signed a multi-million dollar deal with the PFL

The former UFC champion Francis Ngannou signed a deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) last May. The terms of the deal shocked everyone as it was the most lucrative deal in the history of MMA. The deal guaranteed a 7-figure pay for his fights and also a share of the net profit that the event makes, plus any bonuses.

This contract for Francis Ngannou was not just about the money. It was also to have the freedom and protection he had always sought. Furthermore, it allowed Ngannou to box in other promotions while they retained the exclusive right to match him in MMA.

This deal also made him the chairman of PFL’s venture to Africa and reserved a spot for him on the PFL’s athlete advisory board.

Many people criticized him for relinquishing his UFC title and leaving the promotion. But, in hindsight, they would agree with his decision. The deal with PFL is surely to be more lucrative in the future.
