Tyson Fury the WBC World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, engaged in a historic encounter with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou. The highly anticipated crossover bout was held in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, on October 28. Fury was the favorite and Ngannou was the underdog, especially since the match was his professional boxing career.

Francis Ngannou, on the other hand, lived up to the hype and went the distance, even knocking his opponent down once. In an interview after the fight, Fury told iFL TV that he did not underestimate his opponent. Subsequently. Fury stated:

He was good at what he was doing, so fair play to him. Don’t take anything away from him. He gave me a better fight than all the boxers did in the last 10 years.

Fury stated that he took his training seriously and did not listen to people’s opinions about the fight being easy for him. Subsequently, Fury trained for 12 weeks, which was a longer training camp compared to his preparations for Deontay Wilder.

In addition, Fury stated that he had no idea how Ngannou fights in a boxing ring, which made it harder to strategize against him. Furthermore, Fury acknowledged Ngganou as a boxer and even stated that it was his toughest fight in years.

Tyson Fury won the fight by a split decision after a lot of controversy against Ngannou. The defining moment came in the third round when Ngannou caught Fury with a vicious left, which knocked Fury down. Even though Fury got up and fought the entire 10 rounds, fans believed that Ngannou had won the bout.

In a post-fight interview, Fury acknowledged Ngannou as a fighter while dismissing his underwhelming performance.

He’s a good fighter, Francis. He hit me with some good punches and he was a lot better than we thought he’d be. Good fighter. No excuses, he’s a good boxer. He’s a lot better than I thought he’d be and he gave me a good fight. Fair play to him. God bless him.

In addition, The WBC heavyweight champion felt his timing was off and admitted that his performance wasn’t his best. After Ngannou’s professional debut, he may potentially fight Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, or have a rematch with Fury.
