Pro-boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis took a surprising conversion into the faith of Islamism, that recently took the world by storm. His stepping into the ‘The Shahada’ (faith) unto the practices saw release over social media. It has garnered a lot of positive reinforcement from both, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Recently, the fighter has been in a brutal feud with Devin Haney on the subject of a possible super-fight.

Davis, the 29-0 former IBF and WBA super featherweight titleholder, is a former protege of Floyd Mayweather. The boxer now fights under the premier guidance of the Al Haymon Boxing Champions. Sweden-born WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack recently shared the news. taking to X. A few YouTube channels, such as FightHype.com also picked up on it. With the shift to Islamism, the boxer now follows suit of Haney, Mike Tyson, Islam Mkahachev, and various other fighters who hold top spots in their sports. Surprisingly enough, Davis’ devotion to Christianity was a point of contention before. This was during the build-up of his fight with Ryan Garcia. Recently, Davis questioned the boxer’s dedication to boxing.

Later, Davis himself said that he still fully intends to face Brother Haney, despite his move. Many fans have accordingly blessed the fighter with  ‘Alhamdulillah,’ which translates to ‘all glory to God.’

Gervonta Davis is a pronounced figure in the world of boxing. The Ex-Mayweather Promotions star has a plethora of achievements under his name. During a not-so-recent interview, “Tank” had once mentioned he wants to be famous for more than just his knockouts. He wanted to be famous for his “feats within the ring, and dubious decisions outside it“. His embracing Islamism certainly falls into the category, even if not dubious.
