After their initial press conference and face-offs in NY, the two then head on to the iconic New York Yankees Stadium for some cross-sports promotion where both were part of a special ceremonial first pitch. After each of their throws, the two would face off in the center of the iconic stadium with DAZN Chief, Eddie Hearn in the middle.

After the event, GGG would put out a statement thanking the Yankees organization but reminded the world that the real work he had to out in was elsewhere. He said, “Thanks to the @Yankees for the honor of throwing the first pitch in tonight’s game. It was fun, but I’d better get back to my gloves and ring ropes and on September 17 I’ll throw the real heat”

While many fans have criticized the huge delay in making the fight, most have assured they will tune in regardless. GGG now 40 years of age will look to correct the only loss in his record and gain a decisive victory over Canelo. For the Mexican a victory over Genady would help build back his legitimacy as a middleweight after his disastrous venture into light heavyweight against Dimitry Bivol.

Canelo will walk in to the trilogy with a record of 57-2-2 with 39 of his victories coming by knockout. GGG on the other hand will walk in with an equally impressive record of 42-1-1 with 37 of his victories coming by way of knockout. The trilogy will take place on September 17th and tickets are live as of now.
