Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk‘s highly anticipated fight has faced a stall. Tyson Fury recently got injured and the fight had to be postponed by a couple of months. Turki Alalshikh had something to say about it. Here is what happened:

Turki Alalshikh is a key figure in the boxing world. He is the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. He addressed the postponed fight and said:

If I think Tyson is scared for this fight I would not waste my time. The cut happened. It happened before with Foreman and Muhammad Ali.

In 1974, the heavyweight boxing match between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali was postponed for a month after Foreman’s eye was cut during a sparring session. The delay allowed Foreman time to recover from his injury and ensured both fighters were in optimal condition for their fight. Ali knocked out Foreman in the eighth round and reclaimed the world heavyweight title. Now in 2024, Alalshikh announced May 18 as the new date for the fight.

Tyson Fury got a cut on his face above his right eye during a sparring session with MMA fighter Argon Smakici. The cut required 15 stitches and forced Fury to postpone his fight. The fight is the first undisputed heavyweight championship fight in over 20 years. All four of the division’s belts are on the line. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will fight at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Tyson Fury aims to fight Anthony Joshua after Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury recently said he is in the prime of his life. He has a five-fight plan after the Usyk fight. Tyson has aimed for a showdown with Anthony Joshua following his unification fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are long-time boxing rivals. However, a fight between them has never happened. Fury is the WBC champion, while Joshua held the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles before losing them to Andy Ruiz Jr. British boxing fans have eagerly waited for a showdown between them.

In 2022, Fury offered Joshua a 60-40 split. However, the fight did not happen. Joshua recently said he hopes to fight again in the UK soon. It will be interesting to see if the fight actually goes down in the ring this year.
