Jake Paul rides into his open workout on horseback

Expect Jake Paul to make a statement, whenever he arrives onto the scene for a new venture, literally or metaphorically.

When he announced his intention to become a pro boxer, it will suffice to say, he wasn’t given too much credibility. A couple of knockout later, including that of ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, he has become a big fixture in the sport.

Last night, however, the gesture was more literal than metaphorical. Videos have emerged of Paul, who takes on MMA veteran Anderson Silva in the boxing ring on Saturday night, arriving on a horse, for his open workout. Embodying true warrior spirit, he chose to arrive on horseback, instead of a fancy coupe or a limousine.

He had a large entourage with him, and he was followed by two giant robots, that are a common part of Paul’s team. Undoubtedly, Jake Paul is trying to induce the intimidation tactic.

He later explained this unorthodox decision, saying, “I’m going to war. I feel like a warrior, a gladiator, that’s what this is on Saturday.

Whatever you call it, Jake Paul has really announced himself as a player in the combat sports world. Having defeated accomplished MMA fighters turned boxers, it is hard not to appreciate what Paul has been able to achieve in this very short span of time.

Whether or not he will be able to best purebred boxers, is a different tale altogether. That, however, is not to say that Anderson Silva is a slouch. The Brazilian is one of the slickest strikers to have graced the octagon – on his day, no one stood a chance against him. That was best exemplified in his brutally tantalizing knockout of Forrest Griffin. It will be interesting to see how Paul prepares his strategy for the fight.

With his stunning KO of Tyron Woodley, the American fighter left the combat sports world thirsting for more. We don’t yet know who will trump the other on Saturday, but at least, Paul has shown that he can put on a show. Yes, that includes riding on horseback.

Twitter users, however, were not especially impressed. Some of the most notable tweets are attached below.

Despite what one Tweet tries to point out, Jake Paul will not himself think of this move as corny. After all, he must promote the fight as best as he can. When it comes to fight in the ring in a couple of days’ time, it will be interesting to see if Paul can back up his own hype, against a bonafide fight legend.
