UFC commentator and popular podcast host Joe Rogan often speaks on various topics. One of those is the life of Floyd Mayweather. Recently, the 46-year-old boxer took up an exhibition bout against Gambino crime family head John Gotti’s grandson John Gotti III. However, the bout did not go as expected. Concluding the event, was a brawl between teams that ensued due to a blow from Gotti despite the fight being called off.
Joe Rogan recently spoke on the matter. In podcast episode #1998 of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience,’ the podcast host touched on Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition fighting journey. The 46-year-old retired fighter, despite being one of the wealthiest athletes to ever exist, has embarked on a mission to take up exhibition bouts against YouTubers and influencers. Rogan spoke on Floyd’s need for money due to his reckless spending.
Recently, Floyd Mayweather uploaded a video on Instagram. The video consisted of a stack of ‘Nike Air Force 1’ shoes that the fighter wears like a use-and-throw. “C’mon man, he needs that money,” said Joe Rogan about Mayweather fighting despite being wealthy. He continued, “That money has to keep coming in if you live like this. He does this with everything, man. He’s got million-dollar watches.“
“He [Floyd Mayweather] spends so much money. If he’s planning for the future, you gotta keep it coming in if you keep spending the way he spends,” said Joe Rogan. The podcast host rationalized the reason for Mayweather to fight in the exhibition bouts. The most famous event was against Logan Paul, the 46-year-old boxer who is said to be a reckless spender who still fights in the ring despite retirement.
Joe Rogan on Floyd Mayweather’s defensive boxing skills
On episode 137 of the ‘MMA Show’ on the ‘Joe Rogan Experience,’ Joe Rogan and retired UFC welterweight fighter Jorge Masvidal spoke on Floyd Mayweather’s brilliance in the ring. ‘Money’ is often regarded as the greatest of all time in the sport. His skills and elusiveness have garnered huge respect from fans and viewers alike.
“If you wanna look at guys that never got hit, Floyd went his entire career and got hit hard like three or four times,” said Joe Rogan about Floyd Mayweather’s defensive skills. “He’s indefensibly unparallel. And, he wasn’t a mover. He stood right in front of you. Floyd’s ability to shoulder roll, ability to avoid shots and then land shots when you don’t think he can, is unparallel,” said the podcast host.
Throughout his career, Floyd Mayweather was a defensive boxer. His ability to avoid blows in the ring was impressive. And, as Joe Rogan said, the fighter has rarely been hit with powerful shots.
