“It lasts for a long time”- Mike Tyson claims it took him 15 years to go broke after earning $500M

Mike Tyson is one of the most dangerous heavyweight boxers to ever grace the squared circle. The fighter was a force of nature, a beast who only knew one thing and that is to knock opponents out. Tyson became the youngest world heavyweight champion at the age of 20 and was in the prime of his game. People were crazy to see him punching through his opponents inside the ring. Tyson’s punches are extremely brutal and were enough to knock anyone out. Tyson finished his career with a record of 50-6 out of which 44 wins were via KO.
Tyson’s first loss against Buster Douglas is still considered one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. The boxer bounced back from the loss and won four consecutive fights but later was imprisoned for rape charges. Tyson spent three years in prison where he had a much better time than expected.
During that time Tyson earned a humongous amount of money and was having the best time of his life. However, all that money was gone and in 2003, Tyson filed for bankruptcy. According to reports, Tyson had around $500 million but he managed to exhaust all that. The ‘ Baddest Man on the Planet’ was $23 million in debt. Tyson owed $13.4 million to the Internal Revenue Service, $500,000 to his financial manager, $600,000 to several law firms and many others.

Mike Tyson comments on spending his career earning
Tyson was recently invited to The Pivot Podcast, where the former boxing world heavyweight champion talked about his professional career, current life and future plans.
While talking about his massive earnings as a professional boxer in his prime, Tyson explained that he earned around $500 million. Tyson explained that with that money it generally takes some time to get exhausted. According to Tyson, all that time lasted only 15 years and then he was broke.
“When you’re making that much money it lasts for a long time. That didn’t die right away, it took like 15 years to go broke.”
Tyson is a prime example of a capable man who made many mistakes but has learned from them. The fighter has changed a lot and currently is an Inspiring individual for many people.
