Oscar De La Hoya confident in making success with Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney on Super Bowl weekend
Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya
Oscar De La Hoya, the head of Golden Boy Promotions, has unveiled his future intentions to organize a boxing event similar in scale to the ‘Super Bowl’ in early 2023. De La Hoya has also revealed that his top talent, Ryan Garcia, is set to make a comeback. This announcement is generating a lot of anticipation among boxing enthusiasts.
After Ryan Garcia’s loss to Gervonta Davis in April, he faced a short legal dispute with Oscar De La Hoya over their contract. However, they have reconciled and are collaborating to organize Garcia’s upcoming fight against Oscar Duarte on December 2. If Garcia performs as anticipated in this fight, numerous boxing fans believe that it can lead to fighters entering the super-lightweight world title scene in the near future.
On top of that, De La Hoya has some grand plans for next year. Recently, in a social media post, he mentioned, “I was at the Sphere opening, and I cannot tell you how f***ing amazing it is. So imagine Super Bowl Weekend, the Super Bowl of boxing. Ryan Garcia vs. Teofimo Lopez or even the winner of Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis.”
De La Hoya recently made his point about saving boxing by using super fights and Garcia vs. Lopez might be what he was talking about. According to De La Hoya, this event is going to be massive and will take place on February 10th during the Super Bowl weekend.
Ryan Garcia and KSI exchanged heated insults after the fighter’s latest fight announcement
Ryan Garcia’s upcoming return to the ring against Oscar Duarte in a super lightweight bout, scheduled for December 2 and promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, is generating buzz among boxing fans. Notably, it won’t be a pay-per-view event, making it more accessible to a wider audience.
After the announcement, YouTuber turned boxer KSI asked Garcia why the fight wasn’t on PPV. The fighter was glad to reply and mentioned that this fight doesn’t deserve to be on PPV and he doesn’t want to rob his fans.
However, things got heated when KSI replied to Garcia by making fun of his last fight, in which he lost to Gervonta Davis. According to KSI, Garcia robbed his fans after his last performance and that’s the reason he wants to compensate this time.
