Paddy Considine delivered what was perhaps the performance of his lifetime in the eighth episode, “The Lord of the Tides” of the buzzing new House of The Dragon Show. Considine who plays King Viserys Targaryen in the show recognizes royalty when he sees it and is a huge fan of the Gypsy King, Tyson Fury.
Yes, King Viserys and The Gypsy King go hand in hand as the actor has been an ardent supporter of Fury since the very beginning. Both these icons from the UK share a love of good cinema and great boxing, as Considine is a massive fan of the sport itself and has even made a film about his passion.
Considine served as the director and lead for the 2017 film, The Journeyman, a piece that moves away from the glitz and glamour of boxing on film and deals with the more grim aspects of the sport such as head trauma and the effects thereof. But coming back to The Gypsy king, Considine has always picked his fellow countryman no matter who stands in the opposite corner.
In fact, he was among the many celebrities including Mike Tyson, Triple H, and George Foreman to name a few who lent their voices to an epic promo before Fury’s rematch against Wilder. Most recently he supported Fury prior to his fight against Dillian Whyte.
Unlike King Viserys, Paddy Considine adores the violence
Apart from Fury, Considine is a very dedicated fan of the sport in general. As you dive deeper into his Instagram, a lot of his prior posts from just a year ago display his keen knowledge of the sport.
Though most of his posts are in support of his fellow countrymen, he also has a deep respect for the past icons of the sport. He’s endorsed the documentary Four Kings, which tells about the great era in middleweight boxing spearheaded by Marvin Haggler, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Durant, and Sugar Ray Robinson.
Along with this, the actor who plays King Viserys has also shown his adoration for the great trilogies of the past including Ali-Norton, Wilder-Fury, Patterson-Johansson, and Ali-Fraizer.
Apart from this his Instagram also features scattered tributes to boxers such as Manny Pacquiao. His true admiration for the sport is shown in a simple picture of Evander Holyfield being knocked down at the Triller Fight Club event simply captioned, “This Has To Stop”, standing firmly among the group of people who staunchly oppose combat sports legends being dragged back into action long after their prime years.
While his character on the show is a lover of peace and quiet do you think King Viserys would have enjoyed watching the Alis and Tysons of the seven kingdoms duke it out? Let us know!
