Ryan Garcia will return to the ring on December 2, where he will face Oscar Duarte at 140 pounds. Gold Boy Promotions serves as the promoter and will take place at the Houston Toyota Center. Garcia aims to come back from his first career defeat to Gervonta Davis in April this year. In a recent development, boxing icon Bernard Hopkins, a member of Oscar De La Hoya‘s promotional agency, made negative comments about Garcia.

At the press conference, Hopkins also came under fire after Ryan Garcia spoke about some things bothering him. Hopkins stated that he would promote a champion but would not promote a lie. This is what Garcia replied:

Last time I checked, he said he'd never lose to a white boy, then Joe Smith Jr. knocked him out of the ring. Last time I checked, Joe Smith Jr. It's white. So they are lying.

Garcia fired back at Hopkins for stating that he would decide about Garcia’s career because of his 28-year boxing experience. The relationship between Garcia and Golden Boy remains strained at the moment. It also looks irreparable as well.

Furthermore, Garcia also spoke about De La Hoya. Garcia commented about Oscar, claiming that he misinterpreted the comments. Subsequently, Garcia stated that it sounded like plain and simple English to him, and it sounded like they were backing up his opponent.
