Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia was billed as one of the biggest boxing events of 2023. It was a matchup of two of the biggest names in the sport and two of the most talented boxers in their prime. Furthermore, the fight lived up to the hype and was one of the year’s best PPV performances. Subsequently, in a recent interview with Patrick Bet-David, Garica claimed that he knew that he was going to lose the fight.
During the conversation, the pair reminisced about the biggest fight of Garcia’s career, which he lost to Davis by knockout in the 7th round after taking a shot to the ribs. Furthermore, Garcia, a native of Victorville, California, recounted all the challenges he faced in setting up the fight. In addition, Garcia mentioned that Floyd Mayweather, Davis’ then-promoter, planned those challenges strategically. Subsequently, Garcia stated:

Garcia spoke about the mental and physical challenges that he was facing ahead of the big fight. Furthermore, Garcia stated that Davis and his team kept creating most of those challenges, which further hindered his performance.
In addition, Garcia proclaimed that he would get his revenge, but he would do it by playing fair, unlike Davis. Subsequently, Garcia compared himself to Jesus, who came back with his robe containing the blood of his enemies.

Garcia accused Davis and his previous promoter, Mayweather, of creating strategic challenges for Garcia ahead of the fight. Furthermore, while speaking about these, Garcia mentioned the unclarity of the fight date and the rehydration clause. Subsequently, Garcia also mentioned that he had an injury to his ribs, and this information was leaked.
Garcia also mentioned that he received the injury during a sparring session ahead of the fight. The doctors told him that he would have to give it some rest and medically advised him not to train. However, Garcia continued to train and go for walks even though he was suffering from pain. Hence, Garcia did not name anybody to avoid being sued, but he mentioned that four potential people could have leaked the information.
In addition, Garcia claimed that Davis used this information and got the better of him. Garcia added that he won’t be preyed upon in a rematch. Furthermore, Garcia proclaimed that he would secure a rematch with Davis and win fairly.
