Ryan Garcia fought the biggest fight of his career against Gervonta Davis. The two fighters called each other out in 2020. After a complicated negotiation process, the fight got booked for April 2023. Both fighters had an undefeated record heading into the fight. However, after a body-shot TKO in the seventh round, Garcia lost the bout. There were reports of Garcia getting injured before the bout. The reports were accurate after SHOWTIME released an epilogue for the blockbuster clash.
SHOWTIME released an epilogue of the fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis. In the video, after the referee awarded the win to Davis, Garcia was seen talking to his coach. Coach Joe Goossen asked, “Did it hit the rib part at all, Ryan?”. Garcia replied yes and said, “I didn’t want to continue because of my rib.”
Analysts and boxing fans believed Garcia lost via liver punch TKO in the fight. They destroyed him on social media for failing to get a body shot. However, the epilogue confirms that Garcia entered the bout with a rib injury. He decided not to continue because of the rib damage, not the liver punch. The loss remains a setback in Garcia’s young career, and will look to bounce back in future fights.
Ryan Garcia also indicated his desire to have a rematch in the future. It remains to be seen if Davis is interested in a rematch. UFC superstar Conor McGregor met with Garcia after the fight, motivating him to learn from the loss. He also told Garcia to compete in a rematch without a rehydration clause.

Rumors circulated about a potential mole in the camp of Ryan Garcia heading into the fight with Gervonta Davis. The mole may have given crucial information to Davis’s team before the fight. Davis threw many body shots in his contest with Garcia. Garcia had this to say about the speculation.
He wrote on Instagram stories, “Actually sad I had a mole in my camp. Like wtf that’s crazy but thank God it’s brought to light now. Also, didn’t mean for that to come off as an excuse or anything. I lost, period. I’ll come back, but I’m just shocked that part of my team crossed me, someone close to me. Unbelievable. But it’s a testimony that you must be aware of everyone.”
The identity of the mole is believed to be Erdenebat Tsendbaatar. He is a fighter from Mongolia. However, Garcia or anyone from his team revealed the details about who the mole was.
