Floyd Money Mayweather was undefeated for the last half of his career with one hand. He constantly broke his hand... and literally walked in a ring and said I'm gonna embarass you and humilate you by showing the world you can't hit me.

Mayweather was infamous for his ability to dodge and block punches. He was never known for being a knock-out artist. The TBE ended about only half of his 50 bouts with KOs and most of them came early in his career. His ability to wear down and embarrass his opponent by repeatedly making them miss their punches made him a defensive genius.

Mayweather became the face of boxing and the richest boxer to ever grace the ring. He became a household name synonymous with wealth. Even after retiring, the boxer still engages in exhibition bouts that rake in millions of dollars. Mayweather doesn’t seem keen on slowing down and fans speculate that he shall grace the ring soon. There are even talks of a potential rematch of the richest and biggest boxing match in history: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather’s only knockdown in the ring

Floyd Mayweather, renowned for his undefeated boxing career, faced a unique challenge in 2001. During a super featherweight title match in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he momentarily touched the canvas. This did not occur from a hit by his opponent, Carlos Hernandez. however, referee Dale Grable counted it as a knockdown, a rare mark on Mayweather’s record.

The referee later admitted he might have judged differently had he known the fall wasn’t caused by Hernandez. However, World Boxing Council rules make such a decision final. Thus, this incident remains the only official knockdown in Mayweather’s otherwise flawless record of 50 wins.

Mayweather’s boxing legacy remains extraordinary, with a perfect 50-0 record. This minor incident and another close call against Zab Judah in 2006 hardly affected his reputation. His skill and precision in the ring have made him a boxing legend.
