Francis Ngannou shocked the world of combat sports with his spectacular performance against Tyson Fury in the ‘Battle of the Baddest’. When the world was wondering what was next for the former UFC champion, his coach Eric Nicksick gave an interesting answer. He wants Ngannou to fight the current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones next.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Nicksick revealed interest in the Jon Jones fight. He reasoned it by saying that Ngannou wanted to compete against the best and Jones was the best. Here is what Nicksick said:
I don't want anymore guesses on who's the baddest man on the plannet. Let's run it. Let's do it. Tou can make that happen. Both sides can make that happen if they really wanted to. Set their egos aside, let's get a legions stadium, let's give what the fans want and let's get Jon and Francis to see who the baddest man on the planet is.Eric Nicksick (via Youtube – The MMA Hour)]
Francis Ngannou put the combat world on notice when he fought Tyson Fury. He knocked the boxer down despite it being his boxing debut. On the other hand, Jon Jones grabbed the UFC heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane in a matter of minutes.
The fight between these two legends will blow the minds of the combat sports fans. The UFC tried to book the fight when Ngannou was still in the UFC, but it never materialized due to Ngannou’s dispute with the UFC over his contract.
Jon Jones is currently sidelined due to an injury he suffered in training. But, Nicksick believed that the fight could happen in the future if the UFC and the PFL agreed on mutual terms. According to him, everybody including the fighters and the promoters wins in this situation.
