Jailton Almeida wants to beat Derrick Lewis and get his hands on the UFC heavyweight title shot as soon as possible. Lewis and Jailton Almeida will fight head at UFC Sao Paulo, which is scheduled to take place on November 4, 2023, at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil.

Both fighters are going to headline the event in a clash of heavyweight styles, which has created a lot of hype around the card. Ahead of the fight, the Brazilian recently gave an interview to TMZ in which he talked about the upcoming fight and what he expects from it. He said, 

"He's ranked number 10 in the division...so I think with the win, I'll be put in the top five in the division. Who knows, maybe there's a lot of stuff going on in this division. Maybe I'll even fight for a title."

Jailton Almeida revealed that Lewis has been in the promotion for a long time. Moreover, he has fought almost everybody on the roster and hence it is a very good opportunity for him. The fighter mentioned that he plans to beat Lewis, which will boost his rankings and may lead him to fight for the title soon.

Lewis has almost a decade of octagon experience and holds the record for most knockout victories in history, with a total of 14. On the contrary, Almeida is known for his BJJ and submission threats. It’s truly going to be a clash of different approaches that fans love to see.

Derrick Lewis gets arrested just a few days before his octagon comeback in Brazil

Shortly before his upcoming fight, Derrick Lewis has run into some legal issues. “The Black Beast” was reportedly arrested earlier today and then freed on “a $100 personal recognition bond,” according to an ABC13 story. The knockout artist drove 136 mph in a 50 mph zone. Lewis was allegedly driving a red Lamborghini in Houston, Texas, and he was swerving erratically between lanes.

Lewis has been scheduled to appear in court on December 27th for the misdemeanor charge of dangerous driving. It has been reported that he exceeded the speed limit by almost three times.
