The headline bout of the evening at Gamebred Boxing 4 was a clash between the iconic Roy Jones Jr. and former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.
In his first professional match in over five years, the legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr. suffered a loss. Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis, a former UFC champion, emerged victorious via majority decision (76-76, 77-75, 78-74) in the main event of Gamebred Boxing 4, held in Milwaukee on Saturday night.
The eight-round cruiserweight bout was fiercely competitive, with both fighters exchanging blows throughout the 24 minutes of action. Some experts believed that Jones had done enough to secure a victory, but Pettis proved to be more active than Jones in the first half of the fight. Jones increased his offensive output in the last few rounds, but it was not enough to sway the judges.
“He’s a legend of the sport.I’m going to take it one fight at a time. I’m 1-0 as a pro so I’m excited to see what the future holds. I had a great team behind me and I wanted this, ” said Sergio Pettis, the brother ofa Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis after his win over Roy Jones Jr.
“I want to go out on my shield and be able to do it again as many times as I want to. So at 54 years old, that’s a beautiful thing,” said Jones Jr. in the post-fight interview

Prior to their bout, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis had expressed his intention not to go for a knockout finish against Roy Jones Jr. Instead, the former UFC champion aimed to wear out his much older opponent and win by decision.
At the conclusion of the match, one judge scored the fight as a draw, while the other two scored in favor of Pettis. Despite the outcome, both fighters displayed respect towards each other and showed appreciation for the chance to compete.
Following the bout, both fighters expressed an interest in a rematch. Pettis made his professional boxing debut in this match and now has a record of 1-0. The 36-year-old mixed martial arts fighter had last competed in August, where he suffered a loss to Stevie Ray in the PFL playoffs. After winning his last fight in the UFC in late 2020, Pettis left the UFC roster as a free agent. However, he had a disappointing two-season stint with the PFL.
