One of the much-anticipated boxing events of 2024 came to a halt when Tyson Fury got injured during sparring. Now, Fury has shared an update on the injury. Here is what happened:

Tyson Fury recently gave an update on the injury on social media. The open wound has now closed. Tyson Fury recently suffered a cut above his right eye while sparring. Fury needed 11 stitches to fix the cut and was forced to withdraw from the fight later this February.

The fight has now been postponed to May. Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, has said the cut was because of an elbow. Fury and Usyk were going to fight for the undisputed heavyweight world titles. The new date has given Fury just over three months to recover.

Usyk’s team expressed no surprise at Fury’s withdrawal. They indicated that they were prepared for such possibilities. However, they did take a shot at Fury with a call-back from the past when one of Fury’s opponents suffered a similar injury. Oleksandr Usyk reportedly heard the news and went back to sparring right away. However, Usyk’s promoter cheekily suggested Fury should consider retirement after the second postponement.
