Promoter Frank Warren is actively exploring collaboration opportunities with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. Following Ngannou’s impressive performance against Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia, the idea of working with Ngannou has gained momentum.
Frank Warren has now expressed his keen interest in establishing a partnership with Ngannou. In an interview with Boxing News, Frank Warren stated:
He has come out of this a huge star, a hero…I will have a meeting with him and his people about working together…I will offer him a top-level fight…I would give him a shot against anyone in the top 10 and I think he’d beat at least five of them right now..
Francis Ngannou walked into the boxing match as the clear underdog. However, the much-anticipated 10-round “crossover” bout took an unexpected turn, with Ngannou even delivering a surprising knockdown of Fury during the third round. Despite the initial odds, Tyson Fury narrowly clinched the victory via points. Warren has suggested one of his top clients, Joe Joyce, as a potential opponent for Ngannou.
He said Francis Ngannou would easily outmatch Manuel Charr, and a showdown with Joe Joyce would be an intriguing prospect. Joyce recently faced two consecutive losses to China’s Zhilei Zhang, also under Warren’s promotion.
Amidst all this, Tyson Fury is gearing up for a highly-anticipated battle against Oleksandr Usyk in pursuit of the undisputed heavyweight title. However, the fight’s scheduled date remains a topic of debate. While there were rumors of a date in December, Warren dismissed this, citing Fury’s need for a well-deserved break. At the same time, Usyk has continued to emphasize that the fight must happen this year.
Oleksandr Usyk talks about Tyson Fury’s fight with Francis Ngannou
Tyson Fury found himself in a closely contested match against Francis Ngannou. While many anticipated an easy victory for Fury, Ngannou’s performance surprised the world. It also surprised Fury’s counterpart Oleksandr Usyk, whom Fury will fight after Ngannou’s match.
Oleksandr Usyk watched the fight with bated breath, and he openly shared his anxiety in an interview with Seconds Out. He said:
The only ones who were worried were me and my team… It was all words of encouragement, especially looking forward to the next fight. I wanted him to get through it so we can finally have our own fight.
The boxing world eagerly awaits the highly anticipated showdown between Usyk and Fury. Their matchup has remained in a state of suspense due to these recent developments. The circumstances have taken an unexpected turn, and both fighters deal with unique challenges that might delay their epic encounter in the ring.
