Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reached the pinnacle of the heavyweight division in recent years. Initially, after Fury won the WBC heavyweight title from Deontay Wilder, he was supposed to face Joshua. It would have been the first heavyweight unification bout since 1999 because Joshua possessed the IBF, WBA, and WBO titles. However, Joshua’s career took a dip after he lost to Andy Ruiz, which was a shocking and upsetting fight.

Subsequently, Joshua won the titles in the rematch but eventually lost them to Oleksandr Usyk after losing twice against him. At the time, Fury set his eyes on totally ending Deontay Wilder’s legacy by defeating him twice in their trilogy fights. According to Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, the next fight on the boxing calendar should be Fury vs. Joshua.

Eddie Hearn said

As Matchroom Boxing’s chairman and one of boxing’s biggest names, Eddie Hearn has been pushing for a matchup between the Brits for years. After hailing a potential Joshua-Fury clash as the biggest match in UK boxing history last month, Hearn said the time to book the heavyweight clash was now.

Furthermore, after Tyson Fury’s controversial victory over Francis Ngannou, Eddie Hearn is certain that Anthony Joshua can win the bout. Subsequently, Hearn stated that Joshua could defeat Fury at any time and would end his career without even breaking a sweat.

Eddie Hearn gives an update on the Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder bout

In an interview with The MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani in August, Eddie Hearn expressed his optimism regarding the possibility of a fight between Joshua and Wilder. Furthermore, he discussed that the fight might take place this year or in the early months of 2024.

Saudi Arabia’s involvement was the reason for Hearn’s self-assurance, since their involvement made the Fury vs. Ngannou fight happen. However, Hearn has now revealed a concerning update, which might mean the fight won’t happen. Subsequently, Harn stated that both Joshua and Wilder had agreed to fight in Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, Hearn stated that discussions are still ongoing, but they might have to look for another venue for the fight. In addition, he said that the fight might happen in Las Vegas but won’t be as lucrative because Saudi Arabia would be a better venue for the fight.
