The Undisputed Lightweight Champion of the World Devin Haney has announced his next opponent. Furthermore, it appears he will be stepping up to a new weight class. As such, the fight will be in the Super-Lightweight division, and Haney will be fighting Regis Prograis on December 9 for the WBC Super-Lightweight Championship of the World.

Devin Haney is the reigning lightweight champion, whose boxing weight ranges from 130 to 135 lbs. However, he will now be moving up to 140 lbs. in the super lightweight division to become a two-division champion. Ahead of the fight, Haney and Prograis recently had a face-off hosted by Matchroom, which will be released on November 26. In the promo, Prograis asked Haney:

During the faceoff promo, Prograis asked Haney about his total number of knockouts across his career. Subsequently, Prograis asked Haney to name one boxer from the 15 Kos that Haney has achieved on his professional record. Furthermore, Haney began laughing, and Prograis hilariously stated that he had knocked out nobody.

Hence, Prograis wanted to imply that Haney has only knocked out boxers who are not well known at all. Haney has a record of 30-0 with 15 KOs, and Prograis has a record of 28-1 with 24 KOs.

Devin Haney will earn more than Conor McGregor has in the UFC

Haney is the reigning WBC Light Heavyweight Champion of the World and is considered the best active lightweight in the world. He won the title last year after a dominating win over a tough fight against George Kambasos Jr.

Subsequently, he kept the WBC lightweight belt and took away Kambasos’ WBA (super), IBF, and WBO belts, as well as the Ring belt. Furthermore, Haney is now set to move up a weight class for the super-lightweight title to become a two-division champion. Prior to the fight, Haney’s fight purse for this bout was announced, and it was a whopping $6 million.

Haney’s fight purse for this bout is much larger than what Conor McGregor has ever earned from any UFC fight. Hence, this shocked MMA and combat sports fans because the UFC denied Sean O’Malley a fight against Haney because he wasn’t a big boxing star.
