The fight between Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather was dubbed ‘Undefeated’ and was a clash between two unbeaten boxers in their prime. Furthermore, many people assumed that Hatton would be the man who would give Mayweather his first loss. Subsequently, thousands of fans flocked to the United Kingdom for the pre-fight press conference to support their national hero.
The crowd booed wildly at the sight of Floyd Mayweather, and they chanted, “Who are ya.” Mayweather was initially dressed in a black T-shirt and jacket but quickly changed to a Manchester United jersey. This was a calculated move since Hatton’s beloved football team, Manchester City’s rival, is Manchester United. Furthermore, the two teams have an intense rivalry on the field, and when the two teams meet, it’s often referred to as the Manchester derby. The crowd did not like Mayweather wearing the jersey at all and booed him viciously.
After the press conference, Sky Sports’ Adam Smith was given the task of interviewing ‘Pretty Boy’. Subsequently, Smith started the interview by welcoming Mayweather to the lion’s den, but Mayweather responded by saying that he was the lion. In addition, Mayweather stated that he is the king of the jungle, and this is called Manchester Mayweather.

Hence, Mayweather’s choice of attire was a calculated ploy to get Hatton’s attention and play mind games with him.
