The Ring Magazine has ranked Garcia for being the world’s third-best active lightweight. Ryan Garcia has been undefeated in his 5 years of professional career which has 18 knockouts in 21 fights. Garcia made headlines when he defeated Romero Duno to win the WBO–NABO, and vacant WBC Silver lightweight title. He successfully defended that title against Francisco Fonseca in Feb 2020. Gracia last fought Luke Campbell last year and won the fight via TKO in the seventh round. This win helped the fighter to secure the vacant WBC Interim lightweight title. 

On the other hand, Emmanuel Tagoe is a former IBO lightweight titleholder and currently is the 10th best active lightweight by The Ring. The Ghanaian has fought a total of 33 fights and only been defeated once which was his first professional bout. Currently, he is on an outstanding thirty-one fight win streak and will be looking forward to continuing his domination. Tagoe last fought against Mason Menard in 2020 which he won via a majority decision.

While the rumors about the fight were in the air now it has been cleared that the fight will take place definitely. On February 05, an American Sports journalist put out a tweet regarding the fight. Benson in his tweet shared the much-awaited news that Garcia will be fighting Tagoe in a lightweight bout this year.

The fight will take place on April 9th in San Antonio, Texas. “ANNOUNCED: Ryan Garcia will face Emmanuel Tagoe in a lightweight clash on April 9th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas,” wrote Benson. 

The news of the fight has spread immense excitement among boxing fans throughout the world. While it will be super exciting to see who will come victorious on fight night, Garcia will surely be the favorite for many going into the fight. The unmatched speed and knockout power of the fighter is something every opponent will struggle to survive.
