This immediately got him a lot of attention when he started his professional career back in 2013. In his third fight as pro boxer, Loma defeated Gary Russell Jr. to become the WBO featherweight champion. After defending his title thrice with ease, Lomachenko moved up and successfully got his hands on the WBO junior lightweight title in 2016. 

Lomachenko went on to defend his newly earned title against opponents such as Jason Sosa, Guillermo Rigondeaux,mMiguel Marriaga etc. In 2018, Lomachenko TKOed Jorge Linares to earn the WBA (Super) and The Ring lightweight titles. The boxer was on a great run until he met Teófimo López in 2020 and lost his lightweight titles. However,he bounced back with Richard Commey to win the WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title.

According to the fighter, the credit for his goes to his father who sent Lomachenko to learn Ukrainian dance before coaching him how to box. Lomachenko is a very private person and doesn’t like to talk much about his private life including his family and dating life.
