In the 80s and early 90s, Mike Tyson was the name that was all over the media and he was the man everybody was talking about. Tyson was one of the most known faces on earth at that time and only a few people surpassed that level of popularity and Michael Jackson was definitely one of them.
While talking about MJ on his podcast show, Tyson mentioned how in 1988 he was a hot topic and was getting worldwide recognition and went to meet Michael Jackson. “It’s 1988, I broke all the records. Beat everybody, I’m a unified champ. I’m the only thing people are talking about in the streets. I’m with Don King, so he said let’s go see Michael,” said Tyson.
According to Tyson, when he met MJ during a show in Cleveland, the ‘King of Pop’ couldn’t recognize the heavyweight champion. Tyson said: “I’m like let me go say hi to Mike because he is ready to leave. And I go up to Michael, I get close and he says ‘Hey, where do I know you from? You look familiar to me.” Tyson then mentioned that after that meeting he was extremely angry at MJ and hated him.
“So f**** Michael Jackson, I hate this ni***. All those years I was mad at this n**** right? He played me,” said Tyson. However, Tyson revealed after a few years when MJ voluntarily asked to meet the boxer all his anger melted because he was starstruck and went to meet the superstar.

Mike Tyson’s brutal response to Michael Jackson’s controversy
Michael Jackson during his time was the most famous individual on earth and was known all over the world. However, with all that fame also came a lot of controversies. One of the biggest ones was when MJ was charged with child molestation and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent.
This incident was the black mark on MJ’s legacy and while talking about it, Mike Tyson mentioned that he wouldn’t have allowed his kids near MJ.
“I have an eight-year-old kid – I wouldn’t let Michael hang out with my kid. Wouldn’t let my kid go over Michael’s house. I love Michael. You know what I mean,” said Tyson on the I Am Rapaport podcast. According to Tyson, it was similar to his case when he went to jail for rape allegations and at that time most people would not have let their daughter near him.
