Canelo Alvarez is one of the most popular boxers in recent times and has a massive fan following all over the world. The Mexican is a multi-division world champion and has successfully taken on great challenges.
With only two professional losses, Alvarez has dominated all of his other opponents and is considered one of the most technical fighters of all time. Canelo is an effective counterpuncher who dodges his opponents with head movement and waits for his opportunity.
Throughout his professional career, Alvarez has fought 62 fights and has fought fighters all around the world. However, what stuck with him is the nickname ‘Brit Basher’. This nickname was given to the boxer for his iconic performances against British fighters in his career.
While talking about it, the boxer mentioned that he’s aware of their term and has great respect for boxers from the UK. However, he just does his job and tries to beat anybody who comes in front of him.
“Yes, I know this term ‘Brit basher’. But, you know, there are really good fighters in the UK and I respect every single fighter in the UK. I’m sorry to the UK people but these are the people in front of me so I have no choice but to do it,” said Alvarez to Boxing News.
Historically Alvarez has always performed amazingly against British fighters and none of them was able to create any problems for the pound-for-pound number-one boxer in the world.
