Juan Carlos Ferrero split with Carlos Alcaraz last December due to failed contract negotiations. But he will return to the tour next year as a coach of another tennis player, revealing the same in a recent interview, without, however, revealing who he will coach next.

Some think he would be joining Alcaraz’s arch-rival Jannik Sinner‘s team. But Coco Gauff‘s former coach Brad Gilbert cannot foresee a Sinner-Ferrero partnership. If Sinner wants to hire the 2003 French Open champion, he must part ways with every team member, believes Gilbert.

Unless Sinner cleans house. He has his entire team, and I do think that wherever JCF goes, he will bring his whole team. He is not just coming in by himself, being a co-coach and fitting into a team. That’s not how he operates.

Brad Gilbert said on The Big T Podcast

At present, Sinner works alongside Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi, both of whom joined his team in 2022 and guided him to five Grand Slam titles, two ATP Finals titles, and others. The Aussie coach wanted to retire after the 2025 season, but after discussions following the ATP Finals, he chose to stay in his entourage for at least this season.

Mischa Zverev believes Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are not strong enough

Mischa Zverev called out the critics who tried to downplay brother Alexander Zverev‘s two Grand Slam wins. Those critics believe Zverev won the two Majors due to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner‘s injury battles, as he did not face either of them en route to his wins. Mischa suggested that the reason behind the two succumbing to injuries is that they are not strong enough.

Why weren’t they there? Because they were injured. Why do we get injured? Because, in some way, you’re not strong enough, or because you’ve done too much. Because you didn’t rest when you needed to.

Mischa Zverev said during his interview with Sport1

Mischa also talked about the ball-bouncing controversy. His brother bounces the ball many times before serving, and this habit was called out by both Karen Khachanov and Ben Shelton. Though both of them said that no matter how annoying it is, he did not break any rules. But many in the tennis world have criticized Zverev over this habit.

It’s like when you win a Grand Slam tournament, and someone complains about the color of your socks. When someone wins and succeeds, there will always be someone saying: ‘Personally, I don’t like this or that.’

Mischa Zverev added

Zverev is in London for the Laver Cup and will next be competing at the China Open, where Sinner will also be playing. The five-time Grand Slam champion will play his first tournament since Wimbledon, where he denied Zverev the Channel Slam with a four-set win to defend his title.

Zverev lifted his career’s first Grand Slam title at the French Open with a five-set win over Flavio Cobolli. He then came close to completing the rare Channel Slam by reaching the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career. In the US Open final, Zverev registered his sixth consecutive victory over Shelton.

It was his second title of the season in his fourth final. He lost his other final to Sinner at the Madrid Open. Sinner has taken home six titles so far, all in big events. After completing the Sunshine Double, he won the three Masters 1000s on clay in Monte Carlo (beat Alcaraz), Madrid, and Rome (beat Casper Ruud).

But at the French Open, he suffered a physical collapse and lost his second-round match to Juan Manuel Cerundolo. He was forced to skip the US Open due to his knee injury.
