Brad Gilbert, who was Andy Murray’s former coach, has shared his thoughts on the three-time Grand Slam champion’s new role as Novak Djokovic’s coach. Gilbert, who recently was sacked by Coco Gauff as her coach, believes this new partnership is an exciting development for both players.
While Murray will not be coaching Djokovic at the Brisbane International, the two are expected to team up for the Australian Open. This move has created a lot of excitement in the tennis world, with many eager to see how the combination will work.
Djokovic had a tough 2024 season, missing out on Grand Slam titles, although he did win Olympic gold in Paris. To bounce back in 2025, he plans to play more tournaments and make improvements in his game, starting with his new coaching relationship.
By hiring Murray, Djokovic hopes to add more titles to his career and get back to his best form. The pairing of the two tennis stars is seen as a strategic decision to strengthen the Serb’s chances going into the new season.
Novak Djokovic seeks 100th ATP title at the Brisbane International
Novak Djokovic will begin his preparation for the Australian Open at the Brisbane International. The tournament will be a chance for him to chase his 100th ATP career title.
Djokovic came close to reaching the milestone earlier this year. In October, he lost to Jannik Sinner in the final of the Shanghai Masters, delaying his historic achievement.
The Brisbane International has seen big moments in tennis history. In 2015, Roger Federer achieved his 1000th career win there by defeating Milos Raonic in the final. Djokovic will now aim to create his own record in the tournament.
After Brisbane, Djokovic will focus on winning his 11th Australian Open title. The ATP 250 event, starting December 29, will also feature defending champion Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune, and Frances Tiafoe.
