Another day, another Brandel Chamblee swipe on LIV Golf and its stars. This time golf analyst has attacked Joaquin Niemann and Talor Gooch and boldly claimed that they are not good enough as much as LIV says they are.

Chamblee is a strong critic of LIV Golf. Many times he has blasted them and their golfers following their switch from the PGA Tour. Recently, he took a dig at Phil Mickelson and once again dropped a “murderous regime” take on the Saudi-funded tour.

Chamblee has now sounded off on multiple-time LIV Golf winners Joaquin Niemann and Talor Gooch. He first took a jibe at Niemann and spoke about his performance at the major championships.

Niemann, yeah, he’s a good player, but let’s not pretend that he’s as good as they pretend he is. He’s played in 22 majors and never even finished in the top-15. Seven missed cuts.

Chamblee would later drop the name of 4-time major champion Rory McIlroy. He claimed that LIV had been treating Niemann as the “next Rory McIlroy” just like they did with Gooch in 2023 when he won three times on the 54-hole circuit.

They keep acting like he’s the next Rory McIlroy, the same way they were talking about Talor Gooch last year, who, by the way, played in three majors, missed two cuts and finished 34th in the other [in 2023], so turns out he’s not as good as they said he was.

Brandel Chamblee added

Last season, Niemann finished second in the LIV Golf standings behind Jon Rahm with 2 wins in 13 events. As for Gooch, he came in 10th with no wins. His best finish came at the Las Vegas event where he was T2 behind Dustin Johnson.

Joaquin Niemann receives special invitation for 2025 PGA Championship

While Brandel Chamblee may not be a fan of Joaquin Niemann, the Chilean golfer has attracted attention to himself with his strong performances on LIV Golf. Due to this, for a second year running, Niemann has received special invitation for the 2025 PGA Championship.

The PGA Championship has a tradition of sending special invitations to top players who did not qualify for the event. With Niemann playing on LIV Golf, he does not receive Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) points which harms their rankings.

This drop in rankings leads to them missing out on qualifying for the event. This year he received an early invitation to the event from Quail Hallow.

He though is not the only LIV Golfer who has so far received a special invitation for this major championship. Veteran golfer Sergio Garcia was also handed out an invitation. The Spaniard will also tee off at this event in May this year now.

Niemann has also received a special invitation from the Masters Tournament, which he has accepted. This means that the former PGA Tour star will compete at the Augusta National this April.

For now, he will turn his attention to the season opener of LIV Golf. The PIF-funded tour will kick off their new campaign in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 6th. This time the event will be played under the lights.
