“Stephen A of Golf” – Fans BRUTALLY slam Brandel Chamblee as insider claims Rory McIlroy plays his “worst” golf at Augusta National ahead of 2025 Masters
Brandel Chamblee has labeled Augusta National Golf Club as the nemesis of Rory McIlroy and stated that he plays his worst golf here annually.

Ahead of the 2025 Masters Tournament, golf insider Brandel Chamblee discussed about the upcoming tournament. During this, he dropped a bold claim saying that Rory McIlroy plays his “worst” golf at the Augusta National every year.
McIlroy, the 4-time major champion, is eyeing a victory in this event. This is the only major championship he has not won in his career. A victory in this tournament would not only see him end a decade-long major tournament win drought, but also see him complete the career grand slam.
At the moment, he is the favorite to win the event this year. The North Irish golfer claimed his 2nd victory of the year in March when he won The Players Championship. With the form he is in and the form of the other competitors, many experts have him as the winner of the Masters Tournament this year.
On Tuesday, insiders Rich Lerner, Brandel Chamblee and Paul McGinley all discussed about McIlroy’s chances in the upcoming event. Chamblee then dived into this matter and claimed that the former World No.1 always outperforms at the Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters Tournament.
He would reference the popular movie, The Devils Wears Prada and expressed that the course was “Miranda Priestly” to Rory McIlroy’s “Andrea Sachs.“
To continue this Devil Wears Prada theme going a little bit further, I would say that Augusta National is the Miranda Priestly to Rory McIlroy’s Andrea Sachs. It is literally his nemesis. It brings out the worst golf in Rory annually that we see. He annually underperforms there.

Last year, McIlroy finished T22 for the event while firing a score of 4-over for the tournament. In 2023, he missed the cut while carding scores of 72 and 77. His best finish in this event, came in 2022 when he finished 2nd.
This tournament also brings out the some painful memories for him. In 2011, McIlroy entered the final round as the leader of the event. He then suffered a dramatic collapse on Sunday and blew away a 4-shot lead and finished outside of the top 10.
Social media reacts to Brandel Chamblee’s claim regarding Rory McIlroy
Golf fans on social media have not been huge fans of Brandel Chamblee in recent weeks. The Golf Channel analyst recently faced the heat of the fans after he claimed that LIV Golf will not have any legacy. Him dropping a bold take regarding Rory McIlroy has once again found himself under the heat.

Golf fans on X slammed him once again for his take. While a few fans did agree with him, many of them were left unimpressed. One user would compare him with popular sportscaster Stephen A. Smith and wrote “Chamblee is the Stephen A of Golf” for this take.
Check out that and some other reactions from X below:
Chamblee is the Stephen A of Golf. Nobody cares about his takes.

The majority of people don't care what Brandel Chamblee says as he's like the Stephen A. Smith of golf, blasting off takes just to start arguments and get engagement.

Here's a quote: Brandel Chamblee sits on phone books during broadcasts because he's 5'4"
Why does ANYBODY give a fvck about ANYTHING that comes out of BC’s pie hole…..

Brandel has the self important, smug, elitist thing going on

He is the absolute worst image for the PGA
13/16 cuts made and 7 top 10s proves that Brandel has no idea what he’s talking about.

Funny thing to say about a player who has more top 10 finishes at Augusta over the last 10 years than anybody else.
— Romford Tipster (@RomfordTipster) April 1, 2025
He’s played well there many times, he just hasn’t played well there for 4 rounds.
Seems a different player mentally this year. Things will be different 👍🏼
It's not as if Rory's never played well at Augusta before. That's an unsurprising overstatement from Blowhard Brandel. For 'The Blowhard', attention whoring is where it's at.

No one cares what this guy says!!
— Matt Bizz (@MattBizz69) April 1, 2025
If the golf channel only knew how much higher the ratings of "Golf Central" would be without this clown. Sounds like Rory's never been in contention, or made the cut there, lol.
— Charlie Palmer (@CharlieP1712) April 1, 2025
A guy who could barely make it on tour criticizing Rory. Unreal.
— JEC (@Irongate35) April 1, 2025
In the end, Chamblee did predict him as the winner of this event though. He expressed that if McIlroy “takes care of his business” then the green jacket is his for the taking.
Rory McIlroy suffers injury concern days before Masters Tournament
Following his win at The Players Championship, Rory McIlroy took a week off and appeared at the Texas Children’s Houston Open this past week. After battling it out to make the cut, he finished T5 for the event. It was the event where he revealed that he was having a health concern.

While speaking with Kira K. Dixon of NBC Sports, the 35-year-old golfer claimed that his right elbow had been causing him some pain. He revealed that he would be treating this injury concern this week before leaving for the Augusta National.
My right elbow has been bothering me a little bit, so maybe just get some treatment on that and make sure that’s OK going into Augusta.

An injury to him at this point could become a deciding factor for him. Apart from dealing with his concern, he has also made some changes to his driver on the shooting range. Before heading for the event, he is expected to make another scouting trip of the course as the tournament inches closer.
