Cody Rhodes entered last night’s SmackDown episode under the impression he would compete in a six-man tag team match. However, plans changed courtesy of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Great One called Rhodes out for an intriguing yet befuddling conversation. The Rock requested Rhodes to be his champion instead of being the “People’s Champion.” Furthermore, the TKO board member enticed Rhodes by mentioning his family.
According to Rocky, Rhodes wouldn’t need to be concerned about his future generations, let alone his wife and daughter. In the end, The Final Boss made it clear that he wanted his former rival’s “soul.” This left not only The American Nightmare confused, but also his wife Brandi Rhodes. The latter took to X to simply post a heartbreak emoji. As Rock mentioned, the Undisputed WWE Champion will have time to think about the offer he presented.
Rhodes will have ample time to discuss things with his family, as The Rock revealed he would be looking for an answer in Toronto for the Elimination Chamber. On the same night, Rhodes’ WrestleMania challenger will be decided inside the demonic structure. CM Punk, Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, John Cena, Logan Paul, and Seth Rollins are set to battle it out on next Saturday’s PLE.

The Rock’s promo on SmackDown has added intrigue to the buildup of WrestleMania. Whether or not this directly affects the Showcase of Immortals is yet to be seen. However, this wouldn’t be the first time that the legend’s return leads to a change in plans for the show.
A look into the rivalry between The Rock and Cody Rhodes
Last year, The Rock returned to WWE, not only becoming a member of the TKO Board of Directors but also coming back for a WrestleMania match. The Hollywood icon intended to finally face his cousin, Roman Reigns, in a dream match at the show. However, this posed a huge problem as a certain someone was on the cusp of finishing his story.
Fans revolted against The Rock stealing Cody Rhodes‘ spot in the main event. As a result, The Final Boss character was born, as he promised to make Rhodes’ life a living hell. In the weeks that followed, The Rock sang songs about Rhodes’ mother and made The American Nightmare bleed on a rainy night in Chicago.
At WrestleMania, Rock pinned his rival on Night 1 in a tag team match. However, The Brahma Bull failed to stop Rhodes from finishing his story after unexpected outside interference. Needless to say, if the pair revisits their rivalry, fans will be in for a treat for another memorable road to WrestleMania.
