Brandon Aiyuk is getting increasingly frustrated because it’s almost the third week of the San Francisco 49ers training camp and he still remains without a contract. On top of that, he saw several rumors linked to him circling around on the internet, from insiders and reliable sources.
On Friday, when the Texans and the Steelers kicked off their pre-season game, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed that the 49ers restarted speaking with Aiyuk’s representatives for an extension. The post read that the situation is fluid and both parties are sorting out the details of the contract.
However, shortly after the news broke, Pelissero uploaded a screenshot from Instagram that contained the same information. Aiyuk commented on the post, and judging by the tone of his words, he wasn’t too happy.
Brad, Niner, be in the media every day, lol, it’s two options out there; pick one and stop dropping reports, simple.Brandon Aiyuk wrote

This news came after the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns offered trade deals for Aiyuk. Before them, the New England Patriots showed interest, but eventually backed out.
What did the Cleveland Browns offer in trade for Brandon Aiyuk?
While the 49ers continued their reported negotiations, NBC Sports Bay Area‘s Matt Maiocco revealed that the Cleveland Browns were serious about taking Aiyuk from their hands. They even offered wide receiver, Amari Cooper, a second-round pick, and a fifth-round pick.
Cooper, a five-time Pro Bowler who had 1250 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2023, seemed like a great swap for the 49ers. However, Maiocco added that Aiyuk turned the Browns down because he did not like the offer himself. It seems Maiocco perceived correctly that the All-Pro wideout wants to continue in San Francisco.
This saga has been dragging on for a while, and it might be that the 49ers and Aiyuk have no choice but to continue their union. https://t.co/dHEbpmT3RX

In the meantime, Cooper threw the ball into Aiyuk’s court when he shared a message on Instagram.

The reason Aiyuk doesn’t want to leave is that the 49ers possess all the necessary players to reach the Super Bowl once more, unlike the Browns, who remain an unknown entity. Cooper’s reaction proved that any receiver aiming for silverware would love to play for the Bay Area franchise.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan is ready for whatever happens with Aiyuk. Make no mistake, the 49ers would love to keep the Arizona graduate on the team, but they will accept if he finds a new place to play. However, they must pay him at least $30 million annually besides the additional trade commodity.
