Delayed contract talks are not only frustrating for San Francisco 49ers fans but also Brandon Aiyuk. There are only a few days left until the end of May and yet the wide receiver hasn’t signed an extension.
49ers general manager John Lynch has assured that it won’t be long before they make a positive announcement on Aiyuk. However, the Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the 49ers talked about trading either Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel before drafting former Gator Ricky Pearsall.
Eventually, both playmakers remained part of the roster, and Samuel even attended last week’s OTAs. However, his receiver partner is a complete no-show waiting for the negotiations to end.
In the meantime, 49ers fan and popular X (formerly Twitter) account ‘Coach Yac’ shared a screenshot from Brandon Aiyuk’s Instagram story. It had a message from the player.

Now it’s uncertain what Aiyuk was trying to imply, but he shared the post a day before Jauan Jennings bagged a new deal. ESPN revealed that the 26-year-old signed a two-year deal worth $15 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed. Perhaps Aiyuk found out about the deal and could not believe his ears.
Will Brandon Aiyuk sign a new contract with the 49ers?
The 49ers remain confident that a long-term solution will be discovered. However, ESPN’s Nick Wagoner reported on Wednesday that a deal wasn’t imminent yet. They are positive Aiyuk is in for the long run.
Lynch completed the extensions of the other star players on the team, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, and Fred Warner. Quarterback Brock Purdy is another candidate who is still playing on his rookie contract. Yet Aiyuk remains the center of focus.
He even shared a cryptic social media message right after Lynch told the press that they had no intentions of trading him away to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jeremy Fowler, with the latest update, stated that negotiations were going on behind the scenes. However, Aiyuk demands close to Lion’s receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown’s $30 million a year.
He doesn't need to be the highest paid in the league, but he's done enough and accomplished enough in that offense where he's probably going to need to be at that number or higher.Jeremy Fowler said
There’s still time to get the extension done. If the Niners keep delaying the process, they will end up in a situation like the Dallas Cowboys with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.
