Brandon Ingram matches Luka Doncic in Wildly Impressive Record
Brandon Ingram has matched Luka Doncic as the only player to score 80 points, 20 rebounds and 20 assists through first 3 games of the season with a team. Although the New Orleans’ Pelicans would rely on their superstar Zion Williamson, but since the restart Ingram has been overshadowing him game after game. While Doncic has just led his Dallas Mavericks to pull off the greatest victory over Los Angeles Clippers. Brandon Ingram’s convergence rate is nowhere near Doncic, that is why this stat is more impressive.
After Ingram won the Most Improved Player award last season. He seems to channelise that even more coming into the 2020-21 season. The Pelican’s star is surely improving from playing under Stan Van Gundy. While the narrative is always around Zion Williamson, Ingram has stamped his authority since the first game of this new season.
Brandon Ingram matches Doncic’s Peculiar NBA Record
Ingram scored 24 points in NOLA’s season opener against Toronto. He followed it up with back-to-back 28-point performances against the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. He has had 22 rebounds in these 3 games and 20 assists.
The major difference between Williamson and Ingram is surely their style of play. While Zion heavily depends upon scoring through strength and power. Ingram is the opposite way around; he looks to score with grace.
The latter is a sweet-shooter, can drive into the pain, and score from basically anywhere on the court. He has started hustling defensively as proven with his increasing rebounding numbers. His passing may fall off, but even if he can average 4-5 assists a game, it is more than enough for this team.
Having said that, let’s see how consistently Ingram could perform in the rest of the games as well and can he finally make the spotlight shine at him in the New Orleans Pelicans camp?
